Anthony Gray profile
"Practice has gone pretty good," said Gray of this week's preparations. "Everybody is working hard and coming together. We still have a lot to work on, but we're getting better."
The confidence that comes from winning has helped the Southern Miss players feel better about themselves as a team and their prospects for the season.
"Everybody is real positive right now," said Anthony. "Everybody is listening to the coaches and getting ready to play. We have had a couple of good weeks."
One of the things the talented senior is proud to see is that the reinforcements that have arrived over the course of the last two years are earning their wings to so speak.
"Octavius Thomas and Khyri Thornton are playing well," said Gray. "They are in a back-up role right now, but they are working hard and learning everything.
"Nobody's spot is carved in stone, so they are competing and making everybody better."
This weekend Anthony will face off against a familiar foe as the Golden Eagles look to go 1-0 in the conference.
"I have played against them before, so I know they are going to be physical," said Gray. "They have an experienced center and we've played before.
"They are going to be ready to play, so we know it's going to be a good game."
