After 4 games he was ranked #1 in the state of California in passing yards, and the numbers keep piling up. For Lloyd though, it is not just about numbers. He is the ultimate team player who wants to just do whatever it takes to continue to win.
"I think my team is doing a fantastic job this year," he said. "We are out there just having fun and doing our thing, and at practice we are working hard and getting everything down. When it comes down to game time it is just second nature at this point."
Coach Fedora and the Golden Eagles have to be thrilled with the numbers he is putting up and his comfort level with the spread offense. "I love it," he said. "I wouldn't want to be in any other offense. It is my favorite to run because of the way you get to spread the ball around."
At this point, he is still solid with the Eagles. Surprisingly, he has not heard much from any of the schools out west. The Eagles hope he will continue to fly under the radar.
"I have been hearing from a few other schools but my commitment is very solid as of right now," he said.
A good sign for fans is that he finds a way to keep up with the Eagles any way that he can. "I follow them every week," he said. "I try to watch them any time I can out here, and if I can't follow them on TV then I get on-line and fix up something to figure out what is going on in the game. I am very up to date on what is going on with them though."
Lloyd said he is having a lot of fun in his senior season, but he can't wait to get to the next level. "The fast pace is something I can't wait for," he said. "Also just being with the team I'll get to be with the next four years and doing stuff like hanging out and summer work-outs. All of it, I can't wait to do all that."
Southern Miss certainly has made a great impression on the California native. "It is so different out here, and I am just not used to the football town kind of thing," he said. "When I came out there I was amazed by it, and it really surprised me. It hit home that I wanted to be in a place like that where the community supports its team. Like I've said before, it just felt like home."
The personable Lloyd looks to continue his record setting pace this Friday against Mt. Diablo of Concord, CA. Keep up to date with USM recruiting right here at GoldenEaglePride.com.
