Davis led the Golden Eagles to a season-high 59 points in a victory over Houston over the weekend as the squad won for the third time in a row.
The Meridian, Miss., native threw for 293 yards on 24-of-31 passing with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He added his second career 100-yard rushing performance with 111 yards on 17 carries, including a long run of 29 yards to go along with four rushing touchdowns.
Davis’ precision passing and ball-control rushing helped the Golden Eagles hold the football for 37:29, which is the seventh-most time of possession in a game for the Golden Eagles since the 1981 campaign.
It was the sixth time in the last seven games that the Golden Eagles have scored at least 40 points.
SMU junior DB Richard Crawford won the Defensive Player of the Week honor after recording two interceptions in the Mustangs’ 31-17 win over Marshall.
The Special Teams Player of the Week award went to UCF sophomore KR Quincy McDuffie after he returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the second time this season.
