Eagles Snag Big Offensive Lineman
Rashad Hill profile Rashad Hill, 6'7 offensive lineman was getting phone calls from coaches all across the country. Something just felt right about Southern Miss however, and he is ready to make it official that he has verbally committed to USM. "My Dad, Mom, and I all sat down and talked it over about where I felt most comfortable, and Southern Miss is what we decided on," he said. "Coach Duggan is the one who recruited me, and I really liked him a lot. He was very straightforward with me, and told me the truth. My parents liked him and all the coaches, and that really made the difference." He sees a great opportunity for his career at Southern Miss. "I could see Southern Miss as a great chance for me," he said. "I know I can go in there and fit in right away. The head coach at Southern Miss and my head coach here at Edward White High coach the same way, so that was a big factor as well." "It is not but a seven hour drive from home," he added about other factors that led to his decision. "I have no problem with leaving home, and I know that there I'll be able to be taken care of real well." The spread offense didn't factor in to much, Hill just likes to block regardless of the scheme. "If it is spread, it doesn't matter to much to me," he said. "I just like to pass block and just compete and work hard. I am coming in to compete right away even as a freshman. I see myself getting bigger, stronger, and faster there." He turned down several offers from other big time programs to be a Golden Eagle. "I turned down an offer from Rutgers, West Virginia, Middle Tennessee, and Marshall," he informed us. "I had a chance to go to Marshall this weekend, but I didn't feel comfortable there. FIU was also in there, but in the end Southern Miss is where I wanted to be." Hill said the coaches wanted him to compete at Right Tackle. He will be coming in for the huge weekend at Southern Miss where close to 30 recruits will be on campus for official visits.
