Mason: "I Made The Right Choice Today"
Max Mason profile Southern Miss has landed another player from the state of Georgia. This time, it is 6'6 receiver from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw GA, Max Mason. Mason named Southern Miss as his favorite a few weeks ago, but waiting until after his official visit to Hattiesburg to make his decision. The visit only confirmed his notion that Southern Miss is where he wanted to be. "Well first and foremost my position, the tight end position is one where they are running pretty short at," he said. "If I can come in and work hard, I might get some immediate playing time. I love how they throw the ball around." He was impressed with everything about the University. "I loved the living conditions, they were as nice as any school I've been to," he added. "The apartments are super nice, and we went in the stadium last night, and that was a big deal." As always, the coaching staff played a huge role in his decision. "I love all the coaches," he said. "Coach Dunn was the one who recruited me, but he is leaving for Oklahoma St. I really like Coach Anderson, he is coming over to the house for dinner tomorrow night." Mason's weekend was as good as advertised. "My host was Ross Smith," he said. "He is a great guy. He took me out and I got along real well with the other guys like Ricky Lloyd and Cooper Harrington." "I also met with the dean of business management, and he was telling me about the opportunities for me to be majoring in." It was just an overall positive feeling he had that made him know this is where he wanted to be. "It all comes into play," he said. "The people were great, I loved the campus, and there is a family atmosphere. I made the right choice today."
