Kendrick Singleton profile
Singleton has had Southern Miss on his radar for a long time, but it was at the recent traveling camp that he received his offer and the Eagles jumped to the top of his list. Today, he was ready to make it official.
"I have been watching them, and at the camp I learned a lot," he said. "I loved the coach's style and they are all just great people. I love them all, they are great guys and excellent coaches."
Though he had five other offers, Southern Miss stood out to him as one where he could do well both on the field and in the classroom. It is also a big day for his family.
"I feel like Southern Miss is a place where I can go and be successful," he said.
"No one in my family has ever been to college, and to know that they are giving me a chance to get a degree and play football, it is just a blessing. I am thrilled about this opportunity."
Singleton is a hard worker who is willing to do whatever it takes to continue the tradition at Southern Miss.
"This summer I am going to two more camps just to work on my technique and learn more about the game," he said. "I am going to Southern Miss July 16th and 17th, and going to watch tape with Coach Bell."
"The thing about me is that I pay attention when I watch film. I learn from my mistakes, and I can do a lot of things on the field. I have played quarterback, running back, and safety, and am a team player."
The coaches have not specifically discussed his role, but he knows he will be used as one of many weapons in the spread offense.
"I am willing to do whatever it takes as far as my role," he added. "Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I'm going to do."
He is planning on studying Health Sciences.
