Thompson and his Pearl High School teammates are off to a flying start in the competitive world of Mississippi High School football. He's been pleased with the way his team has battled after two games.
"We started off slow against Warren Central but we really started to get it going in the second half," he said.
"I did everything I could to help put my team in a position to win. I ran hard every time I caught a pass, returned punts, and anything I could do. We ended up beating them pretty good, 41-7."
Thompson says his team is a resilant team who really works well together. "Against Brandon we were down 10 points going into the second half," he said. "I caught a pass that gave us the lead, and then we ended up winning it in overtime.
"We really pick each other up and play for each other."
When talking recruiting, Thompson is still pretty open about his process.
"I haven't heard from anyone lately," he said. "There is a dead period where they can talk to us. I'm using that time to contact some other schools.
"The biggest offer I have so far is Southern Miss in my opinion," he added.
"I like the school because it is small and everyone is acquainted with each other, the coaches are very hospitable and they really know what they are doing.
"They run a fast paced offense and like to throw it around which I like a lot," he continued. "It is a pretty good school, but I don't know if that is an exact fit for me. It is a nice school but I haven't been there enough to really decide just yet."
Thompson said he will be holding out for some more offers before he makes his final decision.
"Right now it is wide open for me. I don't have any visits lined up as of yet."
