They made sure and lead the way in game one, now this week they are hard at work getting ready for a tough road conference game.
"We were focused on the same things the coaches have been talking about to us even back in the spring," he said.
"We need to stop the run, pressure the QB, and get good looks about what we'll be facing by watching film in preparation for next Saturday."
Pope noticed that he and his teammates will have a challenge ahead in the Marshall offensive line.
"They have gotten better from last year," he said. "They look good on film. They worked well against West Virginia, and they pass block real well so we will have our hands full against them."
In this final run for Pope, Jones, and Law, Terrance knows there is an urgency to see this team finally get back to a conference championship.
"The goal is to win conference," he said. "We want to win them all, and Marshall is our next opponent so all we are thinking about is just beat Marshall.
"There is a sense of urgency especially for the older guys. We have not won a conference championship, this group hasn't, and we want to bring one for our fans and coaches who have worked so hard with us."
Pope registered 5 tackles against Louisiana Tech, including 1.5 tackles for a loss.
The key, he says, has been the hard work and preparation of the defense this season.
"We are trying to make teams one dimensional," he said. "We come out by trying to stop the run, and if we do that, then we know we can make teams have to throw the ball and we can really come after them."
Pope and his teammates will be taking on Marshall Saturday at 2:30 in the home opener for Marshall and conference opener for both teams.
