He said the new coaching staff is excited to use him in the defensive backfield, and that he'll likely be a safety or defensive back at the next level.
"I had offers from South Alabama, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss," he said.
"I committed because I had a good feeling about the school and the coaching staff. I knew they had a good coaching staff coming in, and they had a defensive background. Hattiesburg felt like home to me."
He said the coaches are excited about his versitility on the defensive side of the ball. "They said I could play either cornerback or safety," he said. "I could be like a rover position that can do both."
Turner is just taking the weeks now to focus on football as he gets ready for his game at the next level. "I want to improve my footwork and tackling, and just getting stronger on the field," he said.
Turner is 6'0, 205, and said he was last clocked at a 4.4 40.
