Richard was leaning toward Southern Miss before the weekend, and his time on campus just sealed the deal for the star running back.
"I am committed to Southern Miss," he said after the weekend visit.
"It was crazy fun. I spent time with the athletic director, and he was so upbeat about Southern Miss. Coach Johnson is a great man, and we all had a fun time with him."
Not only was it a learning experience for the visitors, but for the players as well.
"The players and us were meeting the coaches," he said. "Some were out recruiting and hadn't met the coaches yet. So we weren't the only ones who were meeting them."
"We toured the campus, and I just fell in love with it."
The staff hopes he can come in and compete right away for playing time.
"Basically it is going to come down to Tyre Bracken and I, and whichever one of us comes in and shows we can play at this level will have a shot to see playing time," he said.
"Coach Buckley is crazy about us, and he said we were going to get playing time if we come in and make things happen right away. We just have to learn how things work and be ready to play right away."
Richard said there were close to 20 recruits on campus today, and that they all hit it off well. "Anthony Alford and I hit it off real well, and he has a chance to start right away," he said.
"The defensive players are already talking trash, so that is fun. We just had a great time getting to know the players."
"This is going to be a great class."
