The coaching change at Southern Miss brought about good news for defensive end Wil Freeman.
"I hadn't heard anything from Southern Miss until Coach Johnson took over," said Freeman in an interview tonight with GoldenEaglePride.com.
"Now, I am hearing from them and I am very excited. I grew up black and gold, I have always wanted to go to Southern Miss. It has been my favorite school for a long time."
Freeman is still uncertain about if he will get an offer on this visit.
"I really hope I do," he said. "They have discuessed it with me. They told me it is still hazy because they are figuring out who is still committed to them and who they are keeping an offer for. I think I have a good shot though."
And what if he does get that offer?
"Let me just say this, I will strongly, strongly, strongly consider it."
Freeman also holds an offer from Louisiana Tech and Louisiana- Lafayette. He had a great visit to Arkansas State last weekend and was very impressed with what new coach Gus Malzahn has going on there.
"I want to make a decision after this visit to Southern Miss," he said. "I'm ready to get the process over and have a decision."
We'll follow up with Freeman after his visit tomorrow. He will just be there for the day.
