Things couldn't have worked out better for the Hattiesburg, MS native who was ready for his shot to play at the next level. When things didn't work out at Mississippi State, he found his opporutnity with the Golden Eagles.
"I committed because of the coaching staff and acutal program that is to be," he said. "The future of Southern Miss is becoming more and more successful."
"Things are on the rise. If they continue to build a strong base with guys from the area, then bring in some from the outside, things are just going to keep growing."
He loved the time spent with Coach Johnson this weekend and the relationship he has built.
"You can see the wisdom he has and that he is a father figure for a lot of us," he said. "He has great morals and character, and he is a guy that is really wise."
"He is defensive minded guy, and I loved that."
The linebacker from North Forrest said being close to home is a great attraction for him as well.
"My family can come to any game that they want, which I am excited about," he said. "If you get homesick, you can just go five to ten minutes down the road and be there. I love that too."
Ducksworth was hosted by Alan Howze, and said he enjoyed the time spent with him.
"We went out and hung out a lot, and we took in the academic side by talking to professors," he said. "We visited the campus and tourned the weight room. We just saw what it would be like to be a student there."
Ducksworth projects as a linebacker at the next level.
