Jarell Aaron could be a hidden gem for the Eagles. The 6'6 wide receiver is happy to be going to the school that he's always cheered for growing up.
"I am always in Hattiesburg as it is because it is only 30 minutes away, so being there on campus on a visit felt great and I wasn't even committed at the time," he said.
"We all had a meeting with the head coach, and they told me they wanted me there. They offered there and I committed there because that has been my school ever since I could speak."
He came away from the weekend visit even more impressed than before.
"I like the way they do things over there," he said. "They are all about tradition, and I am coming from a school that is all about tradition so that is improtant to me."
His host was Jerrion Johnson.
"We got along pretty good, even though he's an offensive player and I'm a defensive player," he said.
Aaron had been contacted by the previous staff, but it was Johnson and his staff that really blew him away with their interest.
"The old staff contacted me some, I went to some games and camps there," he said. "Coach Buckley was the one who was really after me, and they wanted me to come on an official visit."
For those who haven't seen Aaron play, get ready to see a guy who can make plays on the outside.
"I am 6'6, so my height, catching ability and jumping ability is a big advantage," he said. "I came from an offense that ran the wing-t and I still had over 600 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns."
Aaron was one of 6 commitments over the weekend after the visit for Southern Miss.
