Lineman Earns More Offers

Ryan Hoefeld is a big lineman out of Brother Martin in New Orleans. He attended the Southern Miss spring game and took in a practice as well. Where does he stand now in recruiting? Are the Eagles in the mix? Find out the update right here.

Ryan Hoefeld profile

Brother Martin lineman is really coming along in recruiting, and the evaluation period is just getting started. Before he can really focus on that, however, he will be busy with track and field.

"Spring practice starts May 7th, but we've just been working out a lot," he said. "I'm throwing shot-put and I qualified for regionals. We have that coming up tomorrow. My offensive line coach is the track coach so he got me into that in 8th grade."

He certainly is catching the eye of colleges around the southeast.

"I have new offers from FIU, Louisiana Tech, ULM, North Texas, and then TCU came to see me today," he said. "They liked that I am a hard nosed kid and they like my frame and the way I block."

Right now, he doesn't have any visits lined up until the first week of June where he'll be busy every day with camps and visits.

Hoefeld did say that he visited the Southern Miss campus to take in a practice and the spring game.

"I had a track meet up there and I went to watch them practice, then the next day I went to the spring game," he said.

"I have been in contact with Coach Fobbs a lot through facebook and e-mails. I know Southern Miss is real high on me, and I have gotten to know Coach Peavey as well.

"They love my film and Coach Fobbs told me to be patient and that things are going to work out. I was real impressed with Southern Miss and I love their offense."

Right now, he doesn't have any favorites, but wants to leave his options open until the fall. He said he'd prefer to make a final decision before his senior season. Recommended Stories
