Chaffin Gets Visit From Southern Miss

Southern Miss is still looking for that first commitment of the 2013 class. The staff recently paid a visit to a Spain Park offensive lineman, and he updates his status with GoldenEaglePride.com in this interview.

Jacob Chaffin profile

Chaffin has been busy with baseball, as his team made it far in the playoffs. Since the season has ended, he made it just in time to play in his High School's spring game.

"I didn't practice because of baseball this year, but I did get to play in the spring game," he said. "It was fun, and I'm glad I was able to play.

"Now, I'm really focused on football by working out at 6:00 am every morning, and also working on my agility a lot just trying to get ready for camps in the summer."

He is hearing from a lot of different schools, and Western Kentucky was the latest to make him an offer. He also holds offers from Tulane, Troy, and Arkansas State.

Southern Miss recently paid him a visit at school, and he feels good about their program.

"I was happy they came by, I really like everything I know about the program," he said. "I'm going to make a visit to the campus, but I'm also working out for them at their camp in Birmingham where I'm hoping I can get an offer."

There are three schools that stand above the rest right now to Chaffin.

"The three I like the most are Mississippi State, South Alabama, and Southern Miss," he said. "I'll consider anywhere I get an offer, but those are three I could see myself playing at.

"I'm just really looking for a school where I feel comfortable and one that has a place where I feel at home. That is the big factor for me."
