Eagles Extend Offer To Georgia DB

Southern Miss coaches have spent time across the southeast, and one Georgia defensive back had a nice visit that led to an offer. He talks about it and where the Eagles stand in this interview with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Ryan Carter is a cornerback from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He is ready for a big summer, but is forced to rest right now.

"I injured my hamstring pretty bad at the end of the spring, and I have not been able to practice or play on it," he said. "So, I'm not sure how long I'll be out, probably another two weeks."

Because of the injury, he's still not sure about his summer schedule or camps he'll be attending.

Fortunately, it has not stopped him from hearing from schools who have seen him play or have watched him on film.

"I still am getting calls from a lot of schools, and I have four offers now," he said. "I have an offer from East Carolina, Tulane, Arkansas State, and Southern Miss made an offer about a week ago."

It was coach Jeep Hunter that made the visit to his high school to deliver the good news.

"The defensive backs coach came by and just said that they had watched my film and wanted me to come play at Southern Miss," he said. "I was excited because I know they have a good program."

For now, he doesn't have any favorites and will let the summer play out before he makes a decision. "Of course I'll consider any school that makes me an offer," he added.

Carter plans on attending the Southern Miss traveling camp that will come to Atlanta in June.
