Davis Names Top Two

Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi has several prospects who are making some noise in the recruiting season. One is James Davis, offensive lineman who took some time to update his status and name his top two in this interview.

James Davis is a 6'3, 270lb. guard out of Murrah who is really seeing his stock rise as the summer progresses. He currently holds three offers, from Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, and Southern Miss.

More could be on the way as the big lineman continues to turn heads.

"I went up to a camp at Ole Miss and they told me they liked me a lot," he said. "Then I went over to an elite camp and I had several coaches say I stood out to them, so its nice to be getting that attention from coaches."

Davis also took in a camp at Mississippi State for his first visit there, as well. Sunday, he took in a visit to Louisiana Tech to see that campus too, and he really liked what he saw there.

"My teammates and I have been working hard to get ready for this upcoming season," he said. "I'm focused on recruiting but I really want to get better so my team will be better in the fall."

There is another school Davis is hearing from a lot, and that is Southern Miss.

"The coaches wanted me to come to camp, but I was not able to go because I had something that weekend," he said. "I really want to visit that campus as well.

"I don't have any more offers right now, but I am hearing a lot from coaches more than I was. But Southern Miss is very much in the picture, in fact I'd say them and Ole Miss are my top two right now."

He said he needs to take a visit to campus before trying to make a decision. Davis also said he is unsure when he is going to decide. He originally wanted to decide in mid-July, but that has changed because of the interest he is receiving.
