Spencer Has Solid Camp

Ocean Springs LB Tyrin Spencer took in his second camp on the Southern Miss campus this summer. He also had the opportunity to talk with defensive coordinator Tommy West after it was over. What did the Coach have to say to the talented prospect? Find out here.

Tyrin Spencer is a linebacker who wanted another shot to impress the coaches at the Southern Miss camp today. The good news is, he did just that and even caught the eye of the defensive coordinator.

"Camp went great today, I felt like I had one of my better performances of the year," he said. "Coach Tommy West came up to me afterward and said that I did a real good job and impressed him.

"He told me he was going to come to one of my games this year and take in a game in person to see me play. That got me real excited and it was great to hear."

He also talked about the camp, in which he worked exclusively with the linebackers.

"I did everything with the linebackers, and there were some great players out there," he said. "We did a lot of agility drills, and worked a lot on footwork. We ran the 40 and did the broad jump and all those things again.

"In one on ones we got a chance to go up against the offensive linemen and I felt like I did well there."

Spencer said Southern Miss is at the top of his list, and he's still hoping for an offer.

"Yeah, I love everything about the school," he said. "I like the campus, the facilities are great, and the coaches are real cool. I really like Coach Buckley and Coach West.

"I am taking in a work-out at PRCC in a few days, then I'm going to a camp at the University of Florida next weekend. That will be it for me in the summer."
