Versatile Florida Ath Talks Southern Miss

Southern Miss has been hitting the Florida Panhandle and northern Florida hard in recruiting and has been tracking several prospects. One RB/DB from Tallahassee has Southern Miss near the top and he talks about camp and what he's hearing from them in this interview with

Jay Croom can do it all, and the Eagle staff wanted to see all the prospect could do at last Saturday's camp on the Southern Miss campus. He played three positions but there was one position that he really stood out.

"I just got back from the Southern Miss camp, and he talked to me about playing running back for the Eagles," he said.

"They told me that is where they really liked me and said I performed very well."

Though he didn't get an offer at the camp, he was told that he'd be on the watch list and high on the recruiting board.

"I was able to see the school and take a tour of everything so that was very nice," he said.

"I really liked it, I enjoyed it a lot. The coaches were really welcoming and I feel like it would be a good fit for me."

Croom also took in a camp at Oklahoma in Norman on the next day.

"I was nervous because it was more than just an Oklahoma camp," he said. "It was some of the top prospects in all of the southeast so yeah I was fighting nerves because I wanted to show what I could do.

"They told me I was one of the top five backs there so that made me feel good."

Croom is getting interest from Florida State, Southern Miss, FIU, FAU, and Central Florida.

He claims that he was clocked at 4.3 at the Oklahoma camp and is 5'10, 190lbs. He said that he is still hoping for an offer from the Eagles and they are right at the top of his schools of interest. Stay tuned as we'll continue to follow his recruitment. Recommended Stories
