"With Southern Miss No Matter What"

As the Golden Eagles wind down the football season, the class of 2013 will be vital for the foundation of future success. One player the Eagles can count on is WR James Cox of Northridge HS in Tuscaloosa, (AL). He talked with GoldenEaglePride.com about his commitment status and what is next for him.

One commitment status the Eagles will not have to wonder about is WR James Cox of Northridge HS in Tuscaloosa (AL). James just finished up his season but said he is really focused on getting to Southern Miss and playing at the next level.

"We had an ok year as a team," he said in an interview with GoldenEaglePride.com. "I was hurt the first few games, but I still managed to have 39 catches and over 500 yards.

"Now that my season is over, I'm ready to be playing at Southern Miss."

Cox said his goal is to prepare himself to come in and be ready by day one.

"I'm coming to compete for a job," he said. "I am not playing basketball this year so I can get my school in order, and also I hired a personal trainer so I can focus on getting bigger and stronger.

"I want to play right away. It is important to me to do everything I can to come in and help from day one."

Cox said he knows the struggles the Eagles have had this season, but it does not deter him one bit.

"Its been a struggle, no doubt about it," he said. "But we are going to make sure this doesn't happen again. Southern Miss is a winning program and we'll be back there again.

"I'm the type of guy that when I make a commitment, I stick to it no matter what. I'm with Southern Miss no matter what. I love the school, I'm already planning on getting into the business program, and I just loved everything about it."

He also has been doing a little recruiting of his own.

"Me and Tere (Calloway) have gotten real close," he said. "We talk everyday. I saw his film and I was like, 'we gotta have this guy here with us.' So, I'm taking a visit on the 7th with him and we are going to get him here to Southern Miss."

Cox also had a message for Southern Miss fans.

"Don't worry, we are not going to stay down long," he said. "This class is coming and we are going to have this program where it should be. I'm going to do my part."

Cox is on track to graduate and is meeting all his requirements.
