has been recruiting Tere Calloway
hard for several months now. With the news of a coaching change, are the Eagles still in the picture with him?
The good news for Southern Miss is that Calloway will still be taking an official visit this upcoming weekend to see the campus for himself and spend time meeting the new staff.
"I'm looking forward to meeting Coach Monken and anyone on his staff who he brings in," he said in an interview with GoldenEaglePride.com.
"A coach with that kind of prestige and seeing the type of job he did at Oklahoma State is a definate boost of confidence for me as far as my recruitment from Southern Miss."
For Calloway, the remaining staff is also important because he has spent several months getting to know them.
"I will still like to see what happens with those remaining," he added.
Calloway has always kept the Eagles right at the top since he received an offer from them back in the summer. The Eagles have offered him as an athlete, something that was very attractive to the versatile RB/DB.
He also has stayed in close contact with Southern Miss prospect James Cox, WR, who will also be visiting this upcoming weekend.
"We have been texting a lot about the new coach," he said.
Calloway will be playing in a national all-star game in early January, and said he will be making his decision in front of family and friends the 2nd week of January.
We'll have a full follow up from his visit to come.
