Easterling Gets A Visit From Coaching Staff

Southern Miss prospect Nelson Easterling, LB, Faith Academy, in Moblie, AL was visited by the coaching staff at Southern Miss. He details the visit and where he stands with the Eagles in this interview with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Nelson Easterling is moving up quickly with the Golden Eagles as he moves closer to his college decision. The talented LB detailed his visit with Coach Duggan today with GoldenEaglePride.com.

"It was great, he came in and got my transcipt and everything," he said. "He got my times, bench max, and talked with my recruiting coordinator at my high school.

"We talked about my official visit upcoming to Southern Miss as well and set the date. He was just trying to sell me the school, basically."

Easterling has set his visit for the weekend of January 18th. He said that the Golden Eagles have some big plans for him.

"They said they see me more as a three technique in their scheme," he said. "I'll probably be playing about 280-285. I have a nutrition coach who is helping me gain that weight as well as continue my speed as well."

He also said that there are a few other schools interested in him as well.

"My Coach has told me that Lafayette, Duke, and Vanderbilt will be coming by to visit the talented lineback," he said. "I don't have any other visits set up, but that is who I am hearing from right now."

For now, though, it is Southern Miss at the top for him.

"I can say Southern Miss is the clear leader right now," he said. "I like everything about the program, I love the coaches, and I like where I'd fit in there.

"Coach Duggan was great. I can tell he knows his defense very well. He has a great track record and really knows what he is talking about. His is very honest, straightforward, and I think he'd be a great coach to play for. Southern Miss is my number one choice right now."
