It has been a tough year for North Florida Christian (Tallahassee, FL) WR Branton Lee. At the start…
The visit was great, I loved everything about it, campus, environment and everything else," he said. "It is a great place, and one I am proud to call home."
Lee was hosted by defensive back Debarrius Miller, and said he enjoyed every aspect of the weekend.
"We toured the campus, talked academics and enrolling, just spent time with my new teammates, we bonded together and started a brotherhood together," he said. "I love the guys on the team, and I know we are going to get things back on track starting this year."
It was Coach Monken that really had a lasting impact on the talented receiver from North Florida Christian.
"Coach Monken is a great guy and I honestly think he'll change the program back to where it needs to be and beyond," he said. "He's the right person for the job. I loved all the coaches, and Coach Pollard is very passionate about Southern Miss." "They want us to make them go out and play with them. It makes us want to be great." Lee said Coach Monken gave him a scholarship because he sees him having an immediate impact right away.
"They really have high expectations for me, and they think I can come in and be an immediate impact on the offense," he added. "It's all about effort and hard work. If you work hard and give good effort, they told me I can help with the wide receiving core and fit in right away.
"They challenged me to take advantage of this opportunity. They said I'm going to have a chance to play, that if I can come in ready, I will get to play as a freshman."
Lee had an injury last season, but has fully recovered and is ready to get back to work and playing football again.
