Douglas, a current Louisiana Tech commit, gave us an update on his visit.
"Oh man, it was fun," he said. "I really enjoyed the place and the atmosphere, it was really a nice visit."
Douglas hadn't heard from Southern Miss until the new staff came on board.
"The first time I heard from Southern Miss was about a week ago," he said. "Coach Perot called me and said they were really interested in me. He said that I was the right fit and they were looking for DB's. From there we've talked a lot and we've really started building a relationship."
After the visit, Douglas said, he remains committed but is still leaving all his options open.
"As far as right now I still have my commitment but I am still open for options," he said. "Southern Miss is still an option for me, but I'll know for sure by the end of the week where I will be attending college."
There are no more visits for Douglas, so it appears to be down to Louisiana Tech apnd Southern Miss.
"The one thing I enjoyed about Southern Miss was the way the players get along and everything," he said. "I want it to be a brotherhood, and I really felt like that was the case there.
"The coaches were great. We got a chance to speak a lot and not just football, but I got to know them as people which was fun."
Douglas said his strength is that he can play multiple positions. He's played safety, cornerback, and also some linebacker in nickle situations.
"The coaches at Southern Miss like me either at cornerback or safety, but I feel like I can really play anywhere," he said.
Douglas was hosted this weekend by Jeremy Hester.
