"On Monday Coach Monken and Coach Woz came and saw myself and Nick Mullens up here in Spain Park, and they asked us to take an official visit this weekend," he said. "I'm certainly going, but I'm not sure about Nick yet."
With a rich history in the Southern Miss program, Hoffman was very familiar with what the Eagles have to offer.
"My uncle played there, and he was the QB for the first bowl game they ever went to," he informed us. "Jim Davenport is his name, who also played baseball.
"I have a good friend that is there right now and I've always liked Southern Miss and thought it would be a great program to play at."
Cade said the Eagle coaches like him at slot receiver.
Hoffman reminds a lot of Cooper Harrington, a guy who will make the tough play in traffic.
"I catch the ball really well," he said. "I don't drop anything. Anything thrown my way I'll catch and make the play.
"I also run routes very well and I love to block, which is very important for a receiver in this offense."
The new system will fit well for Hoffman because it is the exact same offense he played in high school. He said he has played football with Nick Mullens since 2nd grade, so going to the same school is something they've certainly talked about.
"Most important is that we do what is best for ourselves," he said. "But yeah, we've talked about it. Going to the same school really would be great."
We'll have complete follow ups after the weekend visits conclude in Hattiesburg.
