FL Guard Draws Early Interest From Eagles

Coach Tyndall and the Eagles are off to a flying start this season, and are also always looking ahead to the future of the program. Though just a junior, stand-out guard Torien Moore of Samuel W Wolfson High in Jacksonville, Florida is already receiving interest from several schools, including Southern Miss.

Torien Moore is a 6'4 guard who is leading his team to a 22-4 mark this season and primed and ready for a playoff run.

The talented guard is a 2014 grad who is already turning heads and making his mark with good size, scoring ability, and outstanding athleticism.

He took a few minutes to talk about his season and brought us up to date with his recruitment as well.

"Well we are 22-4 and heading into the playoffs, we actually have a game tomorrow," he said in an interview tonight with GoldenEaglePride.com.

"I'm the leading scorer on the team and am just trying to do anything I can to help my team win. I hope we can go all the way and win state this year. Seeing some of the seniors and being around them has helped my game too."

The junior is already hearing from several schools around the southeast.

"I'm hearing from Southern University, Southern Miss, UAB, Rider, and Charleston Southern," he said.

"I've heard a lot from Southern Miss and I enjoying watching them on t.v. They have a great program and a good new coach that I like. They have a great school too and that is priority number one for me."

Right now, he doesn't have any offers, but certainly expects that to change as the season continues along.

"At 6'4, I can score from outside or inside," he said. "I can shoot it from anywhere. Defensively, I work hard at it and I play solid defense.

"I am one of the leading scorers in my league too."

His time in AAU ball has really made a difference. Last summer, he played for the Dwight Howard Warriors, but this year he's staying closer to home and playing with the North Florida Elite.

"Playing in the summer helps my one on one game," he said. "It is great for my all-around game and playing against that level of competition is really good for me."

Moore also plays football, but says basketball is his main support and he'll throw everything into getting in a great school and solid basketball program.

Stay tuned for more updates on recruiting for all sports Southern Miss.
