"Yes sir, I committed to the Eagles today," he said.
"I just didn't want to miss an opportunity to play for a great program, so I decided to go ahead and make the move to commit to them."
What was it about the Eagle program that made Armstrong make the pledge?
"They just showed me the most love, every time I was there," he said.
"They were my first offer, they were the ones that took the chance on me. That always meant a lot, and I wanted to show them that I am ready to be an Eagle.
"I love the coaches, they have great coaches who are going to turn this thing around. I want to be a part of it, and help do what I can.
"I have wanted to go there ever since they offered me, and I'm ready to play for Coach Monken and Southern Miss."
Armstrong, a talented DB, said he was ready to put an end to things, and he's set on his decision.
"I don't have anything else planned," he said. "I am coming to Southern Miss. I wanted this process behind me so I could focus on winning another state championship and going undefeated. I found the right place, so why wait any longer?"
Armstrong becomes the 5th commitment to Southern Miss in the class of 2014.
