Moore Gaining Momentum After Camp Showings

Tavarius Moore turned a lot of heads last weekend. The Quitman, Mississippi rising senior made a name for himself after impressing coaches across the state. Is he now close to an offer? He talked with GoldenEaglePride.com about the latest.

Tavarius Moore is a 6'1, 185lb. athlete who will find success wherever he is put on the football field. Things had been pretty quiet this summer for Moore, until last weekend when he created a buzz at two in-state camps.

The hard working, humble Moore from Quitman High School in Mississippi tells GoldenEaglePride.com he's working hard to ready himself for an important senior season.

"Well, I went to a couple of camps and I've been doing work-outs with my team every day just trying to get better and get to the point where I can help my team," he said.

"The summer has gotten long and I'm just so ready for my senior season."

It was at those camps that Moore really started to emerge as a prospect that everyone made a note of. He took in camp Friday night at Mississippi State, then headed south and took in Southern Miss' camp on Saturday.

"I liked the camp at Southern Miss a lot," he said. "Southern Miss has always felt like home to me.

"The campus down there was nice, and I really loved the facilities and the locker room was nice."

Moore was able to catch up with the coaches after practice, too.

"I talked with the safeties coach, Coach Buckley, and also the head Coach Todd Monken," he said.

"They said they were very high on me and liked me a lot. They want to get me to campus to take in games this fall, and also said they want to see me in person.

"They said they'll be coming over to watch me in person at the games."

He's mostly being looked at on the defensive side of the ball.

"They said I'd probably either play safety or cornerback," he said. "I play some WR too for my team, and I'd love to play some receiver at the college level."

Moore was clocked at a 4.3 at MSU's camp, and Saturday at a 4.4 for USM.

"Some of that had to do with how tired my legs were," he said. "I didn't get in until late at night after the MSU camp, then I had to get up and go to Hattiesburg and I really felt tired.

"But I did the best I could and I think I impressed the coaches."

Moore is also receiving interest from Mississippi State and several junior colleges across south Mississippi.

He's a real sleeper who Southern Miss has always been known for finding in the small towns across the state. Blazing fast and with excellent instincts, he's going to be a real steal for whoever lands him.

Stay tuned.
