Harvey Lands Southern Miss Offer

Southern Miss is continuing to search the southeast as they seek to provide talent for the future. They have dipped into Florida once again with an offer to an impressive linebacker. He talks about his offer to the Eagles in this interview with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Willie Harvey is a LB from Pedro Menendez HS in St. Augustine, Florida, who has drawn the attention of the Golden Eagle coaching staff.

So much so, that they made him an offer just shortly after watching his film.

"Well, my connection with Southern Miss happened when my coach sent their staff my highlights," Harvey explained to GoldenEaglePride.com today.

"They called me right away and told me they were very impressed and had to have me in the black and gold. They made an offer and I'm pretty excited about it."

Coach Thacker then was able to see the LB in person and it solidified what they had seen on film.

"After the game Coach Thacker came and talked to me and just told me that they really want me to come to Southern Miss," he said. "They are looking for linebacker help for the future.

"I play outside linebacker and they said that I would be a great fit for what they are trying to build defensively."

Harvey said he plans on taking a visit to Southern Miss.

"I am for sure coming, I just haven't set an exact date yet," he said.

He also holds offers from Western Kentucky, FAU, Central Michigan, and Marshall in addition to Southern Miss.

"I wouldn't say I have a leader right now," he said. "I just want to take a few more visits and I am looking for the place where I just feel most comfortable and the environment is just the right fit for me.

"I'm not sure where that will be yet, but I think I'll know when I visit and then I'm sure I'll know."
