Devon Baulkman is a 6'5, 205lb. guard/forward from Gulf Coast St. (FL) and has made his pledge today to the Southern Miss program.
Baulkman was seeing interest from programs such as Arkansas, Georgia, and Ole Miss among others, before nailing down his commitment to Southern Miss.
"My decision was made because of the environment and the coaching staff," Baulkman said.
"I loved Coach Tyndall and the down home environment that was there in Hattiesburg. The town is just like my home town in Georgia, and I'm a guy who wanted to stay in the deep south.
"I love the style of play from this team, they love to D it up and play hard. That's the type of player I am, and I'm excited about the opportunity to make it happen."
"Southern Miss will give me the chance to come in and be an impact player right away. That's what I wanted, was the chance to take a program to the next level and that is what they are doing here at Southern Miss."
Baulkman knows his experience at the JuCo level will mean a lot when he gets to Hattiesburg.
"There are a lot of great players at this level," he said. "I'm experienced and have that college level games under my belt, so that can only help me."
Baulkman will graduate in the spring of next year and then he'll enroll at Southern Miss in the summer and have a chance to work out with the team during the off-season.
