Finally, Taylor got the good news he was hoping for.
"Yes sir, Southern Miss offered me! I'm thrilled with the offer," Taylor told GoldenEaglePride.com today.
"A month ago my head coach told me that Southern Miss was very interested in me. I sent them my full game film and we've been talking back and forth.
"They loved my tape and loved it. Coach Woz told me he showed the entire staff my film and they loved it. I can do a lot, I actually can kick too. I used to punt but right now I just do kick offs in addition to playing cornerback."
Taylor is receiving a lot of interest in addition to Southern Miss.
"Friday I'm going up to Kentucky, then Southern Miss on Saturday for their Junior Day," he said.
The talented prospect has seen a lot of growth in speed and strength as he prepares for spring practice.
"This off-season I've been running track and lifting heavier than usual," he said.
"I'm trying to get faster. I'm actually at a track meet right now. I run the 100, 200, long jump, and 4 X 100m relay.
"I first started playing football when I was in 8th grade and that was the same year I started running track. I've just always done both."
Though he's a long way from a decision, Taylor already knows what he's looking for in a program.
"Distance isn't a factor for me in deciding about my school," he said.
"I'm an Army brat so I've moved all over the nation. I just want to go somewhere that I can call home and somewhere where the academics are first because if football doesn't work out I want to have something to fall back on."
