Camp Follow Up: Tyrell Jacobs

Camp Follow Up: Tyrell Jacobs

Southern Miss had a ton of talent at the Rock Saturday as they hosted another camp. There to see the Eagles and talk to the coaches was Rummel HS stand-out Tyrell Jacobs, who took a few minutes to update us on his visit and conversations with the coaches.

Tyrell Jacobs joined close to 100 prospects who took part in a big weekend on campus for prospects.

Jacobs was one of several who did not participate in the camp itself, but used the trip as a chance to see more of the campus and talk with the coaches.

With over 15 offers to his name, including one a long time ago from Southern Miss, the coaches were already very aware of what the talented defensive back from Rummel HS can do.

It was a trip well worth it, said the three star defensive tackle.

"I loved my time up there on the campus," Jacobs told "I think the coaching staff there has things headed in the right direction and they are very personal and friendly.

"I love that they will talk to you about how you are doing and they show they really care about you as a person."

Jacobs also said the visit itself was a lot of fun.

"I loved seeing the locker room and my favorite part was putting on the jersey," he said. "I was able to see what that would feel like, which was a lot of fun.

"They showed us a work-out from the players and we were able to meet some of them. I also loved the strength and conditioning coach, he didn't play any games and would tell you like it is."

Jacobs certainly has plenty of options, as he has over 15 offers and is hearing from a lot more. But, he maintains Southern Miss is right there in the mix for him.

"More than anything I want a place where I can just call home," he said. "I care about feeling comfortable and being able to be a part of a family.

"I'm going to take a lot of visits this summer and just start narrowing things down. I have no time table for a decision. All I can say is when it feels right, then I'll know its time. It could be any time, but its just going to be when I know its right." Recommended Stories
