Brown Takes In "Black Ops" Night At USM

Southern Miss hosted a special event on campus Saturday night for select prospects. One on hand was talented ATH Austin Brown of Vernon HS in Florida. He took a few minutes to talk about it with GoldenEaglePride.com.

Tonight was a special night for select prospects as they took in a visit to Southern Miss, ate very well, and enjoyed meeting with coaches and current players.

It was called the "Black Ops," and one prospect on hand was Austin Brown of Vernon HS in Florida.

He was one who made the trip over and was very happy that he did.

"My night here on the campus of Southern Miss was fantastic," Brown told GoldenEaglePride.com.

"I enjoyed mostly being around the players and all the events, and most important was seeing the way the players are so close to each other and the coaches."

Of course, they ate well.

"Oh man, the food was incredible. So delicious," he said.

"The highlight was to sit with Coach Monken in his office and talk with him. He gave me some real advice, just to make the decision that makes me happy and where I feel most comfortable. He told me to just be real and be the person I am."

Now, Brown talked about where the Golden Eagles stand after his visit. The three star athlete holds offers over 10 schools, including Wisconsin and Virginia.

"I'm in a great position with Southern Miss," he said. "I would say that the Golden Eagles are one of my favorites, there is no doubt about it. Had just a great time tonight and felt comfortable."

Brown has no time table for a decision.
