That is not to say, however, that this group lacks quality. Assad will have his work cut out for him, as he joins a group with the likes of Deandre Brown, Jordan Mcnair, Gerald Baptiste etc. He will also have highly touted JUCO receiver Justin Jordan.
Despite the competition that he will face Assad remains confident that he will be able to jump in and contribute right away.
"I want to start every game of my career for the rest of my life," said the extremely confident receiver.
Even though he is confident that he will be on the same level as everybody else, he would still be ok with taking a year off as long it benefits the team in the long run.
"If the coaches decide that it would be best for me to take a redshirt then I would go along with it to help the team."
Assad is very excited about USM and he loves everything about the university and all that it brings to the table.
"USM showed that they cared the most about me, they called me the most and they have looked into everything like my grades. Also, I feel like I can get early playing time there."
Assad is a humble kid, but he does admit that he enjoyed the spotlight that came along with the recruiting process.
"I really enjoyed my recruitment because it made me feel like I was important. It was a lot of fun."
Probably the most appealing thing to Mujahid is the fact that he will be playing with some of the best skill players in the country. He is really excited about playing with somebody like Deandre Brown.
"That is probably one of the most exciting things about going to USM. I can't wait to be the right hand man to a… pretty good dude. He is pretty dang good…great receiver."
I have no doubt that Assad will come in and be a very productive receiver for USM. He adds speed to an offense that thrives on players like Mujahid. He will be a very interesting name to keep an eye on during the fall.
