Kendrick, during his junior season, had 175 carries for 2,103 yds and 29 touchdowns. During his senior campaign, he rushed for 1762 yards on 177 carries and scored 19 times.
His brother Wayne played at Southern Miss a few years ago, but Kendrick is quick to point out that Wayne did not factor in his decision.
"It didn't have anything to do with my brother at all," said Hardy "USM has a good program, and I felt like I would be coming to a place where I could be successful."
Hardy will have his work cut out for him at the running back position, he will join many big names like Damion Fletcher, VJ Floyd and Desmond Johnson in the backfield. He is a confident kid, though, and he is going to do his best to make an immediate impact.
"I am going to do the best I can to jump right in there" said Hardy "I am a powerful back." That is something that was much needed at USM last year.
Hardy knows that his teammates on the offensive side of the football are talented and the freshmen-to-be is excited to join them.
"It feels good to be able to play with all of these great athletes," said Hardy "It feels good to know that I am going to be one of them too."
Kendrick was the talk of the town in Hattiesburg when he decided to become an Eagle. Hardy says that he really enjoyed the attention that he got.
"I loved it, it let me meet a lot of good people," said Hardy "it was a really good experience for me."
With all the attention that comes with recruiting, Hardy has found it to be somewhat tough to keep humble throughout the whole process.
"It was tough because you have so many people talking about you and so many people asking you questions so it was hard." Said Hardy.
We are all very excited about Kendrick arriving on campus and seeing what he can do to help this team in the upcoming season.
