Case Keenum and No. 17 Houston had 57 seconds to score and avoid overtime with Southern Mississippi on Saturday. The nation's most potent offense needed just 36. Keenum threw for a career-high 559 yards and had five touchdowns, his last coming with 21 seconds remaining, and the Cougars escaped with a 50-43 win.    Full Story

Southern Miss has gotten back on track with two straight wins and have set themselves up for a run at the C-USA Championship. The Eagles will face their toughest challenge to date Saturday when they take on Houston. Houston is the favorite to win the game, but the Eagles feel like they are more than capable of an upset. HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP)--DeAndre Brown caught a pair of touchdown passes as Southern Miss rolled over Tulane 43-6 on Saturday night. Southern Miss quarterback Martevious Young made his third start his most consistent, going 13 of 15 for 127 yards with touchdown passes of 21 and 6 yards to Brown, who had four catches for 41 yards.    Full Story

The Eagles are entering a critical stretch where the Conference USA championship will be settled. After a 3-3 start to begin the season, the Eagles earned a critical win over Memphis to start the second half of the season. Southern Miss came in to tonight just trying to get back on track after losing their last three games. On top of that they had to do it against the Memphis Tigers, that have won four of their last five versus the Eagles. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Ryan Payne kicked a 32-yard field goal with 30 seconds to play to give Louisville its first win over a Football Bowl Subdivision team in nearly a year, 25-23, over Southern Mississippi on Saturday night.   Full Story

He was out last week due to a groin injury and had to watch USM fall to the Blazers of UAB for the first time in the school’s history. It was a difficult week to say the least for Southern Miss football. After a tough loss on Thursday night to UAB, the Golden Eagles received the news that they had lost their quarterback Austin Davis for the rest of the season.
